NEA Peace & Justice Caucus                       Contact us by email at:

NEA caucuses are internal member-only groups. Caucuses exist and operate independently of NEA and have no authority to speak for, or act on behalf of, NEA.

We are a committed group of active and retired educators, members of the National Education Association, dedicated to working for peace, justice, equality, and tolerance so our children and students may learn and grow in a world of unity and progress, rather than war and destruction.

We work within our local and state organizations, affiliates of the NEA, as well as within the NEA itself to advocate for matters related to peace, social justice, and tolerance, bringing forth resolutions, action items, and important questions during the deliberative and informational sessions of our association voting bodies.

We also organize forums and public events that provide our members and the public with the opportunity to learn and express their opinions on matters of importance related to peace, justice, and tolerance.

We cooperate with organizations which share our commitment to promote peace, social justice, the rights of workers to organize and bargain collectively, and the reduction of a war budget in favor of education and social needs.

Mission Statement of the NEA Peace & Justice Caucus:

The NEA Peace and Justice Caucus mission is to promote economic and social justice and peaceful resolution of conflict. The caucus will advocate that the NEA work for public policies that:

  1. Promote tolerance

  2. Reduce violence

  3. Increase awareness of basic human and civil rights

  4. Support the right of workers to organize and bargain collectively

  5. Work for world peace and disarmament

  6. Reduce the military budget and increase funding of education and other social needs

You must be the change you wish to see in the world.
